For most of us, Sunday is
defined by a “late morning haze” and “mindless scrolling” - a state known as “Sunday drift”. Meanwhile, thousands of multi-million dollar
government buildings sit completely empty every single weekend. Sunday Study
(ஞாயிறு ஞானம்) is a proposal to bridge
this gap by turning empty classrooms into vibrant community hubs.
The model is elegantly simple: Retired
teachers, engineers, and accountants volunteer their time to share
practical, real-world expertise. Whether it’s a home baker learning to cost her
products or a teenager learning to fix a broken motor, the focus is on applied,
hands-on knowledge.
Key Features of the
Initiative:
- The ₹10 “Commitment
Fee”: A symbolic price to ensure
seriousness and mutual respect between the teacher and the learner.
- The Mixed
Classroom: An environment where
a 60-year-old grandmother and a 12-year-old child learn side-by-side,
fostering community patience.
- The Digital Matchmaker: A simple app that confirms sessions only when
enough learners sign up, protecting the dignity of the volunteer’s time.
As the tagline says: “மாற்றம் தான் வேணும், மாறத்தான் வேணும்” (We need change. We need to
change). This isn’t just about infrastructure; it’s about the “Internal
Delta” - the measurable improvement of the person walking on the road.

What if we treated our empty schools like a “Real-Life Wikipedia” every Sunday?
